In January 1961, 19-year old Bob Dylan moved to New York. He was fascinated by Greenwich Village's thriving folk scene and started performing traditional songs at "Cafe Wha?" and the "Gaslight Café" on MacDougal Street. Soon after that he started to write his own songs, some of which became all-time classics and ended up the albums
"Bob Dylan" and
"The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" (of which the famous cover photography was taken at Bleecker Street).
